The Papal visit is from September 22 – 24. View detailed information about each day’s events here- SCHEDULE
All District facilities will be OPEN, and all agencies and employees should report to work as scheduled.
The Federal Government in the Washington, DC, area will remain “OPEN” during these three days but encourages agencies to allow employees to telework to keep the government operating while helping to minimize traffic congestion and support law enforcement efforts during this event.
DC Public Schools and most DC Charter Schools will remain open and on schedule (List of Charter Schools closed). Following inquiries from my office, we have been informed that the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) has rerouted many of the school buses along the affected routes and parents have been notified of the changes but should expect delays.
Parents and guardians may contact the Parent Resource Center (PRC) at (202) 576-5000 for any transportation related questions for their child during the Papal visit.
We strongly urge usage of public transportation options and encourage you to prepare extra time to your commute.
